hanbury hall

residential conversion + community hall

full architectural service to completion

spitalfields, london E1

with mackenzie wheeler architects

built in 1719 to serve the local french huguenot population, hanbury hall is a community hall serving hawksmoor’s christ church in spitalfields.  working with the church, we converted the upper floors into seven apartments, each of which inherits a unique character from the architecture of the host building.  the sale of these enviably located apartments funded the refurbishment of the hall, which now doubles as a thriving drop-in co-working space serving the spitalfields community.
